Ms Danni Zheng was Invited to Conduct an English Training on “Multilateral Development Banks’ Sanctions Risks and Typical Cases” for JSTI Group and Its Spanish Design Institute Eptisa

On March 12, 2025, Ms Danni Zheng, Partner of East & Concord Partners in the Greater Bay Area office, was invited by JSTI Group Co., Ltd. (“JSTI Group”) to conduct a 2-hour online English training for JSTI Group and its Spanish design institute Eptisa Servicios de Ingeniería, S.L. (“Eptisa”). About 30 people participated in the training, including Eptisa’s senior management, business team members, and legal team members, as well as JSTI Group’s risk control and legal team members in its headquarter.

The theme of this English training was “Multilateral Development Banks’ Sanctions Risks and Typical Cases: Taking the World Bank Group and the Asian Development Bank as Examples”. This training aimed to improve the compliance management level of JSTI Group and Eptisa in their engineering and consulting projects related to multilateral development banks, including projects in the areas of transportation, water resources, environment, and information technology, and to prevent potential sanctions risks in the operation of multinational companies.

Ms Danni Zheng once served as a Short Term Temporary in the Integrity Vice Presidency of the World Bank Group. She has first-hand experience in the operation of the sanctions systems of multilateral development banks and has written a series of briefs in related fields. During this training, Ms Zheng first comprehensively reviewed the sanctions systems of the World Bank Group and the Asian Development Bank from a macro perspective and introduced the sanctionable practices of these two multilateral development banks. Subsequently, Ms Zheng explained in a simple way the constitutive elements of common sanctionable practices such as fraud, corruption, and collusion, as well as the typical cases of Spanish and Chinese enterprises and individuals being sanctioned for such practices. Finally, Ms Zheng shared the rule frameworks and practical cases on how to mitigate sanctions and how to lift sanctions under the sanctions systems of these two multilateral development banks.

At the end of the training, Ms Danni Zheng actively interacted and exchanged ideas with Eptisa’s business and legal team members. The quality and effect of this English training were praised and recognized by JSTI Group and Eptisa. The participants acknowledged that the training was wonderful and enlightening.
